Let’s meet with TRENDZ for their new European tour!

After setting the Alhambra on fire last year, the Korean group TRENDZ is back in Paris on June 6, 2025, at the Café de la Danse for their second European tour. For the release of their new album Chameleon, Havit, Leon, Yoonwoo, Hankook, ra.L, Eunil, and Yechan are going big and will visit a total of 13 countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Greece, Portugal…

We had the opportunity to ask them a few questions before their Paris concert about how they create their songs and choreographies, the meaning behind their new album, and their excitement about starting an even bigger tour across Europe.

Hello TRENDZ! Could you briefly introduce yourselves to our readers?

Havit: Hello! I’m Havit, the calm and collected eldest member of TRENDZ, known for my emotional side and husky vocals.

Leon: Hi, I’m Leon, the main dancer of TRENDZ.

Yoonwoo: I’m Yoonwoo. I’m in charge of vocals and rap in the team, and I bring both strength and warmth to TRENDZ!

Hankook: Hello, I’m Hankook, the leader of TRENDZ.

ra.L: Hi, I’m Ra.L! I made my debut as a composer through the CHAMELEON album. My official position is rapper. Being able to show my rap skills on stage and prove myself is what brings me happiness.

Eunil: Hello, I’m Eunil, the main vocalist of TRENDZ.

Yechan: Hi there! I’m Yechan, the multi-talented youngest member of TRENDZ!

Does each member have a specific role within the group?

Havit: I’m the emotional vocalist who helps shift and elevate the mood. I’m also in charge of Japanese and... snacks!

Leon: I handle vocals, I’m the main dancer, performance director, and choreographer of TRENDZ.

Yoonwoo: When unexpected situations come up or something needs to be handled quickly, I’m usually the one who steps in and takes care of things. I also help support the members mentally and emotionally.

Hankook: Yes, I’m the leader and rapper of the team. I help keep TRENDZ centered and grounded, and with my low-tone rap, I add dynamic energy to our music.

ra.L : I’m in charge of songwriting, composing, and rapping. I also film and edit lots of short-form videos to show off our team’s trendy side!

Eunil: As the main vocalist, I help define the color of our music. I’m also an extrovert, so I naturally brighten the team’s overall mood.

Yechan: I dance, rap, sing, and even play around really well—I'm TRENDZ’s cheerful all-rounder and the team’s mood-maker!

You’ve just made your comeback with your 5th single album "Chameleon": it's a real mix of styles, and you’ve said you wanted to break the rules and constantly reinvent yourselves. What was your creative process for the title track?

Hankook: When writing the rap for Chameleon, I focused on the performance aspect. With the concept of a “chameleon,” I was able to write the lyrics in a fun and creative way.

You’ve been very involved in songwriting since your debut: has anything changed in the way you create, individually and as a group?

ra.L: Before debuting, I was a trainee for a long time, and during that time, I honed my skills in songwriting and producing. That experience allowed me to participate as a composer on TRENDZ’s album, which I believe helped define our musical identity.

As for how my creative process has changed, I’ve become much faster at writing lyrics and completing songs. I’ll keep improving so I can continue making high-quality music for our fans.

You also contributed to the choreography for your new album: could you tell us more about that?

Leon: I created the choreography for Chameleon from start to finish. I took inspiration from the eyes and color-changing traits of a chameleon and tried to reflect that in the dance. Personally, I think this choreography is one of my favorites because it captures both the charm of the song and each member’s personality.

“뚜뚜 (ddoO ddoO)” is dedicated to your fans, the FRIENDZ: what’s the story behind this song?

ra.L: Ever since debut, I’ve always wanted to prioritize making music for FRIENDZ if I ever got to include my own song in our album. This time, I had the amazing opportunity to include the fan song “ddoO ddoO,” which I composed. Since it was such a meaningful chance, I filled the lyrics with all the messages I’ve been wanting to share with our fans.

Yechan: When ra.L hyung played us the demo of “ddoO ddoO,” he gave us the chance to write our own rap parts. Since the theme was “FRIENDZ,” it wasn’t too difficult to write—the challenge was narrowing down everything I wanted to say. But I’m really happy with how the lyrics turned out!

ra.L, you also composed this song. It’s your first time taking on this role for TRENDZ — how did it feel?

ra.L: Honestly, creating everything from the beat to the full track on my own isn’t easy. On top of that, each member has a different music taste, so I really wanted to make something everyone could be proud of.

When I finished the song and the members said things like “This is really good” or “It could totally go on the album,” it made me so happy. Their trust gave me a lot of confidence. Thanks to their support, I was able to complete the track, and I’ll continue working hard to keep improving as a composer.

What are your biggest inspirations? Are there any artists you’d like to collaborate with?

Eunil: More than anything, our fans’ love and support are my biggest source of inspiration. An artist I’d love to collaborate with is Jungkook sunbaenim. I really respect his music and performances—I even practiced a lot with his songs during my trainee days.

Yoonwoo: I get inspiration from a wide range of experiences. Hearing about something and actually living it are totally different. I’d love to collaborate with BTS sunbaenims someday.

Havit: My biggest source of inspiration is FRIENDZ! Artists I’d love to collaborate with are keshi, Lauv, and Coldplay.

If you hadn’t become artists, what jobs would you have liked to do?

Hankook: I think I’d be a YouTuber, uploading all kinds of content. I’ve always been really interested in video production!

Yechan: I really love kids, so I think I would’ve become a kindergarten teacher.

If you could meet yourselves at the beginning of your journey, what advice would you give?

Leon: Give it everything you’ve got—so you won’t have any regrets.

Yoonwoo: I’d tell myself to spend way more time building stamina before debut. My endurance has improved a lot now, but back when we first debuted, it took me some time to adjust physically.

What’s your favorite song from everything you’ve released so far?

Eunil: For me, it’s “NEW DAYZ.” The song’s bright energy really empowers both us as performers and the people listening to it.

ra.L: I’d choose “ddoO ddoO.” It’s the first track I ever released under my name as a composer, so it holds deep personal meaning. Since it was written for our fans, it’s also incredibly meaningful to all of us.

Let’s end with a few questions about your new tour: you’re back in Europe with twice as many dates as last year! How does that feel? What can we expect from this new tour?

Hankook: Last time we went on a short tour, so I felt a bit sad that we couldn't visit many cities. But this time, we’re going to so many different countries, and I’m truly happy! I really want to show you how much we’ve grown since the last tour.

Yechan: I’m so excited and happy that we’ll get to meet more FRIENDZ than last year! I want to repay you with improved performances!

Do you have any special rituals before going on stage?

Havit: I have a personal pre-show routine! I say a short prayer, blow warm air onto my thumb, do a few light jumps in place, and then take a big deep breath before going on stage.

Yoonwoo: I focus on stretching a lot before going on stage. And right before stepping out, I take a sip of water to stay ready.

We’ll be in the audience at Café de la Danse in Paris on June 6 and we can’t wait to see you! Do you have any special memories from your time in France last year?

Havit: Every moment in Paris was unforgettable, but what stands out most is seeing the Eiffel Tower and performing for FRIENDZ in Paris.

Leon: I still remember the passion and energy of the French FRIENDZ so vividly.

Yoonwoo: Last year, the French FRIENDZ had so much fun at the concert, and that energy made the show unforgettable for us too. That’s why we’re even more excited for this year’s performance.

Hankook: We filmed a lot of clips during our time in Paris last year. The most memorable part for me was compiling those clips and turning them into a video gift for FRIENDZ.

ra.L: What left the biggest impression on me was the cheers from the audience. At one point, everyone started singing along with what felt like a chant, and it was the first time I’d heard the crowd sing to us like that from the stage—it really surprised me in the best way. It was such a fun and meaningful memory. I’d love to hear that song again!

Eunil: Seeing the Eiffel Tower in real life was honestly amazing. I’d only ever seen it in movies, so seeing it up close was incredibly moving.

Yechan: The crowd at last year’s Paris concert gave us such a passionate response that I’m really looking forward to this year’s show too. Let’s all enjoy it together!

Do you have a final message for your French and European FRIENDZ?

Havit: I’m so happy we get to meet again! Let’s make joyful and exciting memories together. Even if we’re far apart, I’m always by your side, FRIENDZ. I love you!

Leon: FriendZ! We’re going to show you an even more energetic and powerful performance than before, so please look forward to it!

Yoonwoo: I’m so happy we have the chance to perform for you again! Let’s make special memories together!

Hankook: We’re heading to Paris soon! We’ll show you how much we’ve grown and bring you an even better stage than before, so please look forward to it! Let’s meet for sure—I love you!

ra.L: This is our second European tour since debut. If you welcome us with the same warmth as last time, we’ll be so grateful. Please enjoy our performances with us. We love you!

Eunil: It’s such a blessing to be able to create more precious memories in France. We’ve been working hard to prepare, and I’ll do my best to show you our best selves!

Yechan: FRIENDZ! Thank you so much for always supporting us from afar. Let’s make this tour an unforgettable memory for all of us. We’ll make sure it becomes something truly special for you!

Thanks to the members of TRENDZ for taking the time to answer our questions, to Global H Media and to Pierre Guyader and Ely Valle from Envol Productions for making this interview possible.
